This coming year 5782 is a Shmittah (Sabbatical) year. This takes place every seven years and in this year debts are to be forgiven, agricultural lands to lie fallow, private land holdings to become open to the commons, and staples such as food storage and perennial harvests to be freely redistributed and accessible to all. Rabbi Daniel Swartz will explore these issues in the light of our experiences during the pandemic, our quest for forgiveness and inner peace, and the need to build an environmentally sustainable future.
